My Top 5 Essentials

Baby

As Poppy is now 8 weeks old I thought I’d share some of my must have items- the things that have made these first few weeks much easier and that I couldn’t live without.

1. Asda Little Angels size 1 nappies

With Pops being born 6 weeks early and at 4lb 4oz it’s safe to say all nappies were pretty big on her.  I have found Asda’s nappies are the best fit and they’re also really reasonable.  3 packs of nappies are £10.

2. Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep

This is literally the best thing ever!  When these first came out I wondered what the hell was wrong with a kettle but this saves so much time!  Sadly I wasn’t able to express for as long as I’d hoped and bottle making guidelines have changed a lot since I had the eldest one too.
There’s no waiting for the kettle to boil and then frantically trying to cool a bottle or under the tap while you’re half asleep at 2am.  The most complex part is remembering how many scoops of milk you’ve put in!

This is currently £60 in Asda which is a bargain!

3. Nightlight

I do all night feeds in Poppy’s bedroom and am keen for her to differentiate between night and day so keep it dim and quiet at night.  I decorated her bedroom with a forest theme and love this lamp that I got from Homesense.  It’s so cute but gives off just he right amount of soft light for night time nappy changes and feeds.

4. Beau & Elliot Change Bag

I’d be angling for a new change bag for Poppy rather than the functional black one we had for Oliver which smelt of loft.  Mr J came up trumps for mother’s day and bought me a lovely Beau & Elliot changing bag.  I’m not sure where he got it from but Argos sell it online for £69.99.  He’s a man who always does his research and so he informed me they are better than Pink Lining- which I love.  This change bag has a vinyl coating so is much more practical as it can be wiped clean.  It comes with a bottle pocket, changing mat and lots of handy compartments.  Oh and it looks cute too.

5. Champneys Good As New Hand Cream

With constant handwashing and washing up it’s fair to say my hands are knackered.  I got this for Christmas and it’s without a doubt the best handcream I have ever used.  It’s not greasy, absorbs easily and smells gorgeous and tackles my dry old lady hands well!  It’s £6 from Boots which sounds a lot, but promise you it’s worth it.

That hand cream sounds fab, and cute nightlight. I have to say I’m not a fan of changing bags in general though. They seem a bit overpriced and I was determined not to have one and just to use a normal bag. I’ve never felt the need for one to be honest! #theBabyFormula

Thanks. I agree on the changing bags after a while but always handy for spare clothes etc when they’re little x
