Poppy’s 11 Month Update

Baby

baby, development, update, milestones

How the hell did that happen? I’m sitting here writing our baby’s 11 month update. The last monthly update I suppose as next month she’ll turn one. How long can you carry on counting in months for? It’s a bit like when they’re tiny and you count in weeks but then suddenly they’re about 16 week and you should probably just say four months.

It’s been an eventful month with Christmas and starting nursery and she’s changing everyday.

Feeding

Poppys been eating lots of new food and since starting nursery I realised we were probably being way too cautious at home as within a couple of days she’d tried loads of new finger foods like kiwi, sandwiches and peppers. At home she enjoys too hot meals a day, but at nursery she has sandwiches for tea so I’m definitely going to encourage more independent feeding, although she wasn’t impressed with cheese omelette and it either ended up in her bib or on the floor.

Playing

Poppy is now a speed demon and can get herself round quickly by crawling. She is pulling herself up on everything be it the TV unit, coffee table or my legs as I try to cook with her clinging on. She walks if we hold her hands and has started making little steps whilst holding onto the sofa. Whereas before she’d pull herself up and cry as she didn’t know how to get down, she can now manoeuvre herself back down effortlessly.

She loves the anticipation of playing boo or me chasing her round the coffee table.  At the moment If You’re Happy And You Know It is a big hit, even with my voice, and she claps along.

Communication

Finally Poppy has started saying Mummy. I kept telling her it would be the perfect Christmas present and on Boxing Day she finally said it a couple of times. She now says it when she sees me, or if she wants a cuddle or picking up she’ll say “Mum-mum” in such a cute little way that it’s hard to resist.
She’s also said her sister’s name, Ella quite a few times and of course Dadda is still the favourite.

She seems able to communicate more now, she’ll put her head down to show us she’s tired or make a beeline for her cup when she wants a drink and comes to us when she wants to be picked up.

Sleep

And this is the not so good bit. Sleep over the past month or so hasn’t been as good and we’ve resorted to giving her a bottle before we go to bed in a bid to keep her asleep for longer. It’s impossible to know what’s been disturbing her as she’s had a chest infection and a cough that kept waking her up, there’s a fifth tooth on its way and she seems to be having a growth spurt, and of course it’s been cold, so we’ve been making sure she has a long sleeved vest on too to keep her arms warm.
I’m hoping it’ll settle down soon now I’m back at work.

And finally, as this picture was just too daft not to share…. (thanks to Poppy’s big sister for putting this silly wig on her)

I remember you returning – so I agree, where did that time go. Although I can see what a delicious little dolly you have there and how she has turned into a proper little girl. I just love her hair – she’s a treasure #KCACOLS

I love all the changes you see with babies, it sounds impossible to do a month by month update but they really so change and grow each month. Wow you practically have a 1 year old! #MarvMondays

She looks and sounds adorable. Love the wig! that’s the perks/downside of having a big sister. I hope her sleep improves for you. I’m guessing being ill has been the biggest influence there. It always knocks feeding and sleeping back in my experience.

She is such a little cutie! It sounds like walking is very imminent. I hope she settles at night soon, it is so hard when that back tracks and you have no real idea why. Good luck going back to work, enjoy the last month before she is 1.
Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS. Hope you come back again next Sunday.
    ps. I love that wig!

She is adorable! If you’re happy and you know it is a favourite song in our house too. My daughter is 9 months old and I can’t wait for her first word, we get sounds but not words yet, she’s keeping us waiting! Sounds like she has a great range of foods to eat, I think we play it too safe too, maybe it’s time to branch out? Kiwis are a great idea for finger food, thanks! #KCACOLS

The wig picture is a-maz-ing! She looks super cute. Shame she’s not been sleeping so well, but hopefully it will pass quickly. Especially now she’s enjoying even more food! #MarvMondays

My boy is also 11 months old so I can relate so much to this post. Feels like he’s going to let go and walk anytime soon. When my daughter went to nursery I couldn’t believe the food she was eating so quickly. I tried to be more adventurous with my boy but this post has made me realise I’m not. Time to chop up the kiwi!! #MarvMondays

That is one adorable little girl! I was once at a business meeting, powerpoints and speakers, etc. Everyone went around the room and said something about themselves, how many years with the company, etc…and I said mine in months since there were so many new mommas there. It’s funny… How we count like this. Enjoy every second! #MarvelousMondays xoxo

Oh she is so adorable! It’s amazing how quickly they pick things up at nursery isn’t it? Glad she is trying more foods, it is so much easier once they eat what you are eating! We went through a slight sleep regression at 11 months, but it didn’t last long so hopefully she will be back to her normal self soon! #MarvMondays

I know the feeling! My little monkey is nearly a year old and I just don’t know where the past year has gone! Rory is at a similar stage with his food, we were eating a lot of the same foods so we’re trying to have more variety. Lovely pictures! #marvmondays

That wig picture is hilarious!!! We had the same at nursery – the first day he came home stinking of garlic yet we were properly nervous!! Amazing how fast 11 months goes. #marvmondays
