Coming Back With A Bump

Blogging

blogging, back with a bump, press, media, the ivy, confidence

When I started my blog nearly two years ago I chose the name Back With A Bump as it marked me coming back to blogging and also being pregnant at a time. Over the past six months by blogging became pretty sporadic as I kind of lost the motivation to write and with working just had less time and inclination. Our kitchen project was one of the only things which kept me writing.

At the end of October I was made redundant and suddenly I found myself with more time on my hands and started to write more and even drawing up a list of posts I wanted to write- normally my writing is pretty spur of the moment stuff. I’ve been really pleased to get some paid work too which is a massive bonus as I am now jobless.

When the opportunity to attend a blogger event for Asda arose I jumped at the chance and on Sunday I attended a gorgeous lunch at The Ivy in London for Asda’s Little Angels range. So I turned up at The Ivy with a great big Primark bag as I had to pretty much walk past the Oxford St store on my way- ahem, faux pas number one. I quickly got this and my coat put in the cloakroom before meeting a bunch of lovely bloggers and Dr Hillary Jones who was joining us- more to come on this soon!

A typical Sunday is a bit of housework, cooking a Sunday roast and a walk so spending it sipping champagne at The Ivy was a turn up for the books! I’m pretty sure I was the only one who spilt gravy jus on the tablecloth (faux pas number two)! I had an avocado and prawn cocktail to start followed by fillet of beef and then finally a chocolatey dessert which I had to abandon as I was stuffed! Some lovely looking chocolates were brought out afterwards to accompany the coffee and fuelled by a few glasses of wine I asked a waiter for some foil to wrap them up to take home for Mr J and Ella, hence faux pas number three but armed with my little chocolates, a goodie bag it was time to head home.

As I sat on the train on my way home it dawned on me just how much I have changed. A few years ago I would have struggled to speak up in meetings at work and the thought of doing a presentation would make me break out in a sweat, yet I’d just travelled to London and met a load of bloggers I’d never met before and happily sat in The Ivy with these ladies and this fella off the TV discussing baby poo and pelvic floors and felt quite at home.

And so maybe I am back with a bump after all.
