  1. My son, 7. seems to care what we think so I’m hoping he is going to sail through the awkward stage although it might be wishful thinking. My daughter who is 5 definitely could not give a shit about being told off or any consequences. I think I might be in the same position as you in a handful of years x

  2. You’re right. Being a Mum is hard sometimes. In fact, quite often. Constant challenges. The good outweighs the bad, obviously. But we’re human and we all have patience levels and emotions and we need to remember that. It’s about being kind to ourselves too! #mondaymorningblogs

  3. You mean I have all this to come in 5 years too? My four year old is ignoring us all the time and it is making parenting a real struggle at the moment. When he does get told off he sometimes has that uncontrollable laugh that we have all done but it makes it so much worse doesn’t it? You are right that parenting can be so tough. Just remember you are doing your best 🙂 Thanks for linking up with #TwinklyTuesday – have a great day 😁

  4. Being a parent is flipping hard isnt it?! Having a baby is the easy bit I think! I have a daughter who is now 17. Its tricky to say the least. I think some girls have a flush of hormones around 9/10 so can be a bit bolshy if it helps. Perhaps that is what you are experiencing?
My only other advice is that I’m afraid you are not her friend but her parent. Hopefully the friend part will come later. I personally think (and some may disagree with me) that children need quite firm boundaries so that they can push them! Do you know what I mean? Certain boundaries can change but others are more rigid. For example, in the old house we didnt have any screen time during the week. No exceptions. On Friday, go for it and watch whatever you like. It is so hard to enforce but I can now be a little more flexible as my older children need screens to complete assignments etc.
Good luck! I’m sure you are an amazing mum but I agree, it’s tough but that was why wine was invented! #DreamTeam

  5. Oh honey, I have all this to come….my 2 are 5 and 2 so have the toddler tantrums and school angst but yet to have the door slamming moments. Who said parenting was easy hey? Keep smiling and thanks for linking up to the #bestandworst

  6. Hi Fran, parenting isn’t fun at all, but those days when they act like the lovable angels we’d like them to be makes up for the tough times. And I think many of us know exactly where you are coming from when you say how different it was when we were young. Children have to push boundaries to learn right from wrong, we just have hang in there to keep nudging the little darlings back into place!

Thank you for linking up with the #MMBC.

  7. She obviously loves you to death…only have to see those smiles!! I definitely read somewhere if your kid is comfortable being a little shit at home, you are doing a grand job. They are comfortable as they know you will always love them. This is what I tell myself anyway!! I have all this to come x #twinklytuesday x
